On December 27, 2019, Polish travel group Rainbow Tours officially commenced a new charter route at Katowice Airport: Banjul, The Gambia. The seasonal route will be handled once a week till March 20, 2020. The Gambia is one of eight countries which may be visited as a result of the "Winter 2019/2020" schedule at Katowice Airport, which comprises 14 charter routes.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, Katowice Airport reigns supreme amongst Polish regional airports when it comes to charter traffic. During the height of the 2019 summer season, the network map at Katowice Airport comprised 56 destinations in 16 countries. An equally rich offer is also available during the "Winter 2019/20" schedule. Passengers can fly from Katowice Airport to fourteen locations. Four routes – the most during this season – are available to Spain (Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Lanzarote) and Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Taba, Marsa Alam). Thanks to one route, one may fly to Portugal (Madeira), Turkey (Antalya), United Arab Emirates (Ras El Khaimah), Kenya (Mombasa), Oman (Salalah), and the aforementioned Gambia (Banjul).
