September 2017 was the best result of any September in Katowice Airport's history, in all traffic segments - overall, regular and charter.

In September 2017, overall, Katowice Airport handled 482 794 passengers, which in comparison to the corresponding month last year saw an increase of 90 583 passengers (+23.1%). Passenger traffic grew in regularly-scheduled and charter traffic. In terms of regular connections, the airport handled 228 356 passengers, which is 30 862 (+15.6%) more than in September 2016. Charter traffic showed Katowice Airport handling 254 092 passengers use Katowice Airport, which is 61 495 more (+31.9%) than in the ninth month the previous year.

From the beginning of the year, Katowice Airport has handled 3 133 127 passengers overall, which is 531 967 more (+20.4%) more than in January - end of September time period in 2016. In the first 9 months of this year, 1 832 565 people travelled to and from Katowice Airport using regularly-scheduled services. This is 209 021 (+12.9%) in terms of regular traffic. In the same time period, 1 293 420 people used charter services available from Katowice Airport, which is 323 975 more (+33.4%) than in 2016.

With the airport's exceptional passenger traffic reports in previous months, the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, which manages Katowice Airport, has raised the passenger traffic forecast for 2017. To date, the forecast has been 3.7 million passengers. The new forecast for 2017 estimates that Katowice Airport will handle in excess of 3.8 million passengers.
