On 16 June 2023 (Friday), the Province Roads Authority in Katowice (Zarząd Dróg Wojewódzkich w Katowicach) put a new road near Katowice Airport into service. The new piece of infrastructure was made available two weeks before the deadline. It consists of a collision-free crossing of railway line 182 and voivodeship road 913, and a new roundabout, which distributes traffic to particular parts of the airport: to passenger terminals via west, and to MRO area (hangars) and Cargo City via east. In addition to the Province Roads Authority in Katowice, PKP PLK SA and The Upper Silesian Aviation Group participated in the project.
