At Katowice Airport, the third month of 2018 closed with a 22.9%increase in passenger traffic overall. 254 565passengers were handled, which is 47 423more in comparison to the third month of the previous year. In addition, March this year was the best month in Katowice Airport's history in terms of overall passenger numbers. Aircraft took off and landed 2 605times, which is 275more aircraft operations (+11.7%)in comparison to March 2017. Significant growth was recorded both in regularly-scheduled services and charter services. 209 912passengers used services offered by traditional and low-cost airlines. This is 35 802more (+20.6%)than in the same time period last year. 44 340passengers chose to fly on holidays from Katowice Airport, which is 11 663more (+35.7%)in comparison to March 2017.

In line with forecasts for the first quarter of 2018, Katowice Airport noted a 20%increase in overall passenger volume. The first quarter showed 712 454passengers which translates to 142 320more (+25%)in comparison to the same time period last year. The first three months of the year saw 7 155aircraft operations take place; 1 171more (+19.6%)in comparison to the first quarter of the previous year. Regularly-scheduled services transported 585 912passengers to and from Katowice Airport; 106 131more (+22.1%).In terms of Katowice Airport's holiday network, the airport handled 123 430passengers: 36 277more (+42%)than in the January to end of March time period last year.

The three most popular regular routes from Katowice Airport in the first quarter of 2018 were: London-Luton (85 000 passengers), Dortmund (57 000 passengers) and London-Stansted(32 000 passengers). In terms of charter destinations, the most popular were: Marsa Alam (19 900 passengers), Hurghada(19 200 passengers) and Fuerteventura(13 200 passengers).
