For the first time in its history, the airport handled over 2.5 million passengers in one calendar year. Over the past twelve months Katowice Airport welcomed exactly 2 544 124 passengers, which is 141 000 more than in 2010 (+5.8%). Both regularly-scheduled and charter services ending the year with growth recorded in both sectors, with 1 703 188 (+0.6%, 10 000 passengers) and 815 711 (+17.4%, 121 000 passengers) handled respectively.

In the past year, the airport in Pyrzowice broke two records regarding the number of passengers handled in one month amongst all of Poland's regional airports. The first record was set at Kraków's Balice Airport in September 2007. At Katowice Airport the first time the record was broken was in July (338 019 passengers) and then broken again in August (343 007 passengers). This record stands.

This upward trend in volume at Katowice Airport is further reflected in the statistics for the final month of 2011. In December, the airport in Pyrzowice handled 146 175 passengers (+6.9%). There were 128 499 passengers in regularly scheduled services and 14 636 passengers in charter traffic, which is 8% and 8.5% more respectively than in December 2010.
