2009-05-20Wizz Air’s 5th birthday

On the 19th of May 2009, low-cost airline Wizz Air celebrated its fifth anniversary, of the first, historic debut Airbus A320 flight from Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice to London Luton. This flight also marked the beginning of the airline's activities in the aviation industry and officially opened its base at the airport in Katowice. In the 5 years of the airline's operations at Katowice Airport, Wizz Air has transported almost 4.9 million passengers. Currently, the airline offers 21 routes to 12 European countries and has 4 aircraft based at the airport. Katowice Airport houses the airline's largest base. As usual for its birthday, Wizz Air prepared token gifts for its passengers as well as many competitions with very attractive prizes.

A press conference was held yesterday at Katowice Airport summing up Wizz Air's 5 years of operations at Katowice Airport. Taking part in the meeting with journalists were József Vradi - president of Wizz Air, Artur Tomasik - president of the management board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, Bogusław Śmigielski -Speaker of the Silesian Voivodeship and President of City of Katowice, Piotr Uszok.
