2009-04-03Katowice Airport strengthens its position as the market leader in charter operations of all

Charter traffic at Katowice Airport continues to rise. In the first quarter of 2009, there was a 29% increase in charter traffic in comparison to the analogous period last year. In March, there was a 50% increase, resulting in the airports position as Charter Centre for Southern Poland continuing to strengthen.
The end of May will see the launch of the first long-distance charter connection to Dubai, one of the most fascinating places on Earth. The 6-hour flights will be offered once a week. This year has also seen the launch of flights to Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) and Marsa El Alam (Egypt). Katowice Airport will offer 32 charter destinations in Europe, Asia and Africa, operated by 23 airlines in this year's holiday season:

Together with regular routes, Katowice Airport will offer 64 connections. Such a well-developed network of both charter and regular flights is our Airport's insurance in this time of crisis in the airline industry.
Katowice Airport is the home base airport for Aurela Airlines and Air Italy Polska. According to cautious estimates, 2009 will see a 17% rise in charter traffic - approximately 700 000 passengers. Last year there were over 600 000 passengers.
The charter market, of which we are the leaders in terms of all Polish regional airports is the perfect opportunity to develop - even in these difficult times for all airports of worldwide recession in the aviation industry.
