2007-07-30Terminal B opening ceremony

On Monday July 30th, 2007, an official opening ceremony was held in the departures hall of the newly built Terminal B at Katowice International Airport, an investment that is extremely important for the development of air transport in the region.

The participants of the ceremony included the Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek, the Deputy Minister of Transport Eugeniusz Wróbel, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence Marek Zająkała, the Silesian Voivode Tomasz Pietrzykowski, the Marshall of the Silesian Voivodeship Janusz Moszyński, His Excellency the Bishop of Sosnowiec Adam Śmigielski, General Anatol Czaban, Chief Trainer of the Polish Air Force, as well as representatives of local authorities, members of parliament and senators, representatives of airlines and of companies operating in the area of the Katowice International Airport and collaborating with the latter.

During the ceremony, His Excellency the Bishop of Sosnowiec Adam Śmigielski blessed Terminal B and a plaque dedicated to the 39th air fighter regiment, which had its base at the Pyrzowice airport in the years 1951-1987. After speeches by the Chairman of the Management Board of GTL S.A., the Minister of Transport, the Voivodeship Marshall and representatives of airlines, Terminal B was officially opened by the Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek. The guests were then shown a 3-D Interactive Visualisation of the new terminal prepared by i3D from Gliwice. After the official part, the guests were invited to visit Terminal B and to a banquet.
