2008-03-30Schengen Zone - from today

On the stroke of midnight between the 29th and 30th March 2008, all Polish airports began operating under the laws and regulations imposed by the Schengen Treaty. To honour this special moment, a small celebration was held in Terminal B of Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice, where passengers travelling to and from other countries in the Schengen Zone will be cleared. Amongst the dignitaries present were: The Silesian Voivode, Zygmunt Łukaszczyk, member of the Regional Board of the Silesian Voivodeship, Piotr Spyra, Chief of the Silesian Border Patrol Unit, Piotr Pysz, the management board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group as well as representatives of the Group's dependent companies, Customs and Police Services and local council authorities.

We'd like to remind passengers that despite border controls for passengers travelling within the Schengen Zone having been lifted, passengers must continue to carry some form of photo ID (passport of Personal ID Card).
