20 years of Katowice Airport in European Union
57.3M passengers, PLN 1.18B for infrastructure expansion
On 1 May 2024 (Wednesday), we are celebrating 20 years of Poland in the European Union. It is one of the most important moments in the history of Katowice Airport, as proven by statistics.
In two decades of Poland's membership in the EU, 57.3M passengers travelled via the Katowice Airport network of flights; 330K tonnes of freight were handled here, and aircraft performed 596K takeoffs and landings.
From May 2004 to the end of April 2024, the total income of The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL S.A.), i.e. the company managing Katowice Airport, was PLN 2.26B, net profit was PLN 222M, and EBIDTA PLN 811M.
In two decades, GTL S.A. carried out over 60 investments with a total worth of PLN 1.18B; PLN 200M came from European Union sources, mainly from Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.
