In 2023, passenger traffic was the best in the history of Katowice Airport. Throughout the year, the airport handled a total of 5 609 022 passengers, i.e. 1 189 931 more (+26.9%) in comparison with twelve months of 2022, and 765 133 more (+15.8%) than during the previous best year (2019), when 4 843 889 travellers were noted. It is worth emphasising that on 3 November 2023, for the first time in the history of Katowice Airport, more than 5 million passengers in a single calendar year were handled at the airport.

Last year, the daily and monthly records for the number of handled passengers were surpassed. The new daily record is 29 426 passengers; the result was noted on 16 July 2023. The best monthly result was achieved in August 2023, when 776 thousand passengers were handled.

During twelve months of 2023, Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti (the carrier offers flights on behalf of Lufthansa) handled 2 954 350 passengers on regular flights to/from Katowice Airport, i.e. 553 853 more (+23.1%) in comparison with 2022 and 140 567 more (+5.0%) than in 2019. Most popular were scheduled flights to the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain and Norway. Passengers most often travelled on such flights from Katowice Airport to Dortmund, London-Luton, London-Stansted, Eindhoven and Frankfurt.

From January to the end of December 2023, 2 634 524 passengers were handled on charter flights, operated on behalf on travel agencies. That's 634 405 passengers more (+31.7%) in comparison with the same time period in 2022, as well as 628 198 passengers more (+31.3%) than in 2019. Last year, approx. 47% of all travellers flying via the Katowice Airport network chose charter flights. Most popular were holiday flights to Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Tunisia and Spain. Antalya, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Rhodes and Heraklion were the most popular destinations.

From January to the end of December 2023, aircraft took off and landed 45 167 times, that's 5 044 operations more (+12.6%) than the year before and 3 561 operations more (+8.6%) than in 2019.
