2010-05-19Wizz Air Celebrates

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe is celebrating six years at Katowice Airport.

The operator began operations on 19 May 2004. On this day, the airline performed its first flight from Katowice (Pyrzowice) to London (Luton). The airline's first operational base was also established then. Since then, the number of Wizz Air's operational bases has increased to 12 (5 in Poland, three in Romania and one each in Hungary, Ukraine, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic).

Currently, the 30 Airbus A320 aircraft making up Wizz Air's fleet fly to 60 destinations in 21 countries, on over 150 routes, of which 80 are from Poland.

Five aircraft are based at Katowice Airport offering flights to 22 destinations in 11 countries. Wizz Air's also has a technical maintenance and service base at Katowice Airport, servicing all of Wizz Air's Airbus A320 aircraft.
