2005-12-15Grand Opening of Radiolocation Center at Katowice International Airport

Katowice International Airport has a Radiolocation Center from today. This is a very important system improving flying safety. This Radiolocation Center cost almost 3 million and 700 thousand euro, and it was built in half a year.
Starting the system will increase airport's standard and make possible to economize more fuel by planes. Up to now aircrafts consumed a lot of fuel during many time-consuming air operations, which are used where the radiolocation is absent. Thanks this system the airport capacity will increase because more planes will be able to take-off and land at the same time.
Grand cut of ribbon was made by President of Upper Silesian Aviation Group Marek Mutke, President of Cyvil Aviation Office Krzysztof Kapis, Vice Director of Polish Air Traffic Agency of Technical and Development Dariusz Jasiński and Menager of Area Approach Control and Airport Group Waldemar Domarecki.
