On 3 November 2023 (Friday), for the first time in the history of Katowice Airport, five million passengers were handled during a single calendar year. Aleksandra from Germany was the lucky passenger; she came to Katowice Airport from Dortmund on board of Wizz Air's Airbus A320.

The five millionth passenger received gifts from The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA), Wizz Air and Baltona SA.

Katowice Airport handled 1 million passengers in a single calendar year for the first time in 2005. 2 million travellers were served in 2008, 3 million in 2015, and 4 million in 2018. The latest forecast indicate that Katowice Airport will handle 6 million passengers in a single year in 2024.
