In 2019, Katowice Airport achieved the best score in the history of Polish regional airports in the area of handling cargo; for the first time, the airport exceeded 20K tonnes of handled freight. On aircrafts departing or arriving at Katowice Airport were exactly 20 123 tonnes of freight, i.e. 1 576 tonnes more (+8.5%) in comparison with 2018. It must be underlined that the score is very good while taking into consideration the European average. According to data provided by ACI Europe, the volume of cargo flights in Europe dwindled by 2.2% after eleven months in 2019. Last year, Katowice Airport witnessed 3 006 departure or arrival operations in the area of cargo traffic, i.e. 342 more (+12.8%) in comparison with 2018. Katowice Airport is the only regional airport in Poland which has five available regular cargo routes in its network.
