On Wednesday 3rd October 2018, Katowice Airport, for the first time in its history, welcomed its four millionth passenger in a calendar year. Ms Beata Lewandowska, travelling from Katowice Airport aboard a Boeing 737-800 Corendon Airlines aircraft to the Turkish Riviera, was the lucky passenger.

To celebrate this occasion, the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, which manages Katowice Airport, provided gifts for its four millionth passenger. Ms Lewandowska received free vouchers for Katowice Airport's business lounge, fasttrack service and parking. Rainbow Tours gave a holiday voucher valued at 6000 PLN redeemable for any package holiday or flight aboard any of the charter flights in its network. In addition, Chopin Airport Development, owner of eg. Hotel Moxy Katowice Airport, awarded a voucher for a weekend for two stay.

Katowice Airport welcomed its one millionth passenger in a calendar year, in 2002; two millionth passenger in 2008, and three millionth in 2015. These figures illustrate Katowice Airports exponential growth in terms of passenger volume over the past few years.

Forecasts predict that 2018 will be the best year in terms of passenger numbers in Katowice Airport's history. More than 4.8 million people will use a network, which at the height of the summer holiday season, boasts 130 destinations, to 31 countries spanning four continents. Next year, Katowice Airport will handle more than 5 million passengers.
