The Civil Aviation Authority informs you that new rules for the screening of liquids, aerosols and gels at EU airports will come into force as of 31 January 2014 (Friday). According to new provisions of the Commission Implementing Regulation no. 246/2013 of 19 March 2013, the airport operator will conduct the screening upon entry to the airport security restricted area at least of:
Liquids, aerosols and gels carried by passengers may be exempted from screening upon entry to the security restricted area:
Other LAG categories are not admitted to the security restricted area of the airport.
In practice, the changes arising out of the new regulations on the screening of liquids, aerosols and gels will basically apply to the procedures used by airport operators. They will affect passengers to a small extent.
So far a passenger was allowed to bring into the security restricted area:
All the aforementioned categories of liquids, aerosols and gels were exempted from screening with LAGs screening equipment. The airport operator had no obligation to conduct the screening of liquids, aerosols and gels by means of special dedicated equipment.
As from 31 January 2014 a passenger is allowed to bring into the security restricted area of the airport:
The airport operator has an obligation to conduct the screening of specific categories of liquids, aerosols and gels by means of special dedicated equipment.
