2009-04-27Swine influenza - recommendations

Due to confirmed human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) infection being reported in Mexico and the USA, Chief Sanitary Inspectorate recommends:

When you are going abroad:

  • Strictly follow local medical care recommendations.
  • ? Try to avoid close contact with people suffering from influenza or having symptoms similar to influenza.
  • If you get sick with influenza, stay home.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

If you experience any warning signs, seek medical care immediately.

Coming back to Poland:

In case if the following signs and symptom occur within 10 days after
returning to Poland:

  • fever,
  • weakness,
  • cough,
  • lack of appetite,
  • sneezing,
  • sore throat,

immediately contact your doctor. Inform him that you have visited areas which are under threat of swine influenza.
