2010-04-06Statistics - March

March 2010 say 150 116 passengers use Katowice Airport, which is 8% less than in the same time-period last year. At the same time, March was also the last month showing decreases in passenger numbers. April is forecasted to show an increase of 10%. This will be made possible owing to Wizz Air adding a fifth aircraft to its operational fleet based at Katowice Airport and the opening of four new connections, in March, to:

  • Pisa (26 March),
  • Hamburg-Lubeck (27 March),
  • Madrid (27 March),
  • Bergen (28 march).

Starting from the spring-summer timetable, the carrier has also increased the frequency of its flights to six destinations from Katowice Airport including:

  • London-Luton,
  • Forli,
  • Barcelona,
  • Eindhoven,
  • Milan-Bergamo,
  • Oslo-Torp.

Furthermore, after a break during the winter timetable, Wizz Air has reinstated its seasonal connection to Burgas. Also, on the 22 May, the airline is planning to launch its fifth new route from Katowice Airport to Düsseldorf Weeze. In 2010, almost 2.5 million passengers used Katowice Airport, which was more than in the preceding year.
