2013-09-30Modernisation of the baggage storage area in Terminal A

From 1 October 2013 to 15 April 2014, Terminal A at Katowice Airport, which handles flights to Non-Schengen countries, will be undergoing expansion and modernisation of baggage-service systems in the departure area.

In order to complete these works, all seventeen check-in counters in Terminal A will need to be temporarily closed.

Check-in for all flights from Katowice Airport to both Schengen and Non-Schengen zone destinations will take place in Terminal B.

All other departure procedures for passengers travelling from Katowice Airport to Non-Schengen countries, will remain unchanged. Security and document checks, as well as boarding from the departure hall will take place in Terminal A. Passenger-handling at arrival from Non-Schengen countries will continue to take place in Terminal A.

This undertaking will involve the installation of an entirely new system of transferring baggage from check-in desks to the baggage room. In addition, the baggage storage room itself will be expanded and upon completion, its surface area will have doubled. These investments will be realised by the winners of the tendering process, a consortium of Hochtief Polska Sp. z o.o. and Dimark SA.
