2010-09-06Warsaw flights at Katowice Airport

Owing to the renovations of the runway intersection at Frederyk Chopin Airport in Warsaw between 3-5 September, some of the flights from Warsaw were redirected to Katowice Airport in Pyrzowice. As a result, for the first time in the Katowice Airport's history, LOT Polish Airlines transatlantic flights were operated from Pyrzowice. On Saturday 4 September, the Polish national carrier operated flights on the Newark - Katowice - Toronto route and on Sunday 5 September on the Toronto - Katowice - Chicago route. Apart from these transatlantic flights, Katowice Airport also serviced Warsaw's charter flights of airlines such as: PLL LOT Charters, Enter Air and AMC Airlines. Overall, Katowice Airport accepted 33 of Warsaw's flights over the weekend.
