2005-11-16The millionth passenger at Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice

The millionth passenger flew away by plane of Polish low cost airlines Centralwings from Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice, managed by Upper Silesian Aviation Group today!
26 years old Monika Bujak from Chorzów will be able to travel by Centralwings airlines for free until the end of year 2006.
The board of directors of Upper Silesian Aviation Group rewarded Ms Monika by „Millionth Passenger Card” entitling to:
- free car park
- free Senator Lounge in departure hall
- 50% discount in airport restaurant
- 30% discount for renting a car from „Armada GTL Service”

When Upper Silesian Aviation Group was established in 1991, the number of passengers that were serviced by Katowice Airport was above 5 thousand, so much as there's cheking-in per day now.
Terminal of that time composed in airport's block had 550 square meters.
The new one, gave back to use on August 2004 has over 3,5 thousand square meters of surface.
Total area of objects built after taking over management of airport by GTL (1993) is almost 8 thousand square meters.
Passenger terminal's using area will be doubled at the cost of 50 millions zloty during next two years. Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice is able to check-in about 1,6 million passengers per year, about 560 persons per hour now.
Annual airport's capacity will grow up to 3,6 million passengers after extension. It will be able to check-in about 1,6 thousand passengers per hour.
